@jumentix/sdk-grpc-client
AsyncAPI/gRPC client for the realtime gateway — Node-oriented, no browser Run playground.
What it is
AsyncAPI/gRPC client for the realtime gateway — Node-oriented, no browser Run playground.
Why it exists
gRPC clients need the proto + envelope conventions; this package standardizes them.
When to use: Node services calling the Jumentix gRPC realtime gateway.
When not to use: Browser apps (use REST/WS SDKs) or in-process events (message-mediator).
Responsibility in context
- Stack layer: SDK / realtime adapter (Node)
- Problem boundary it owns:
GrpcApiClientand proto loading forrealtime.AsyncApiGateway. - Used with: shared-contracts; server gRPC adapter docs.
- Typical composition: Realtime guide gRPC path → this client in Node workers/services.
- Journeys: Realtime API guide.
- Not responsible for: Browser networking or DB persistence.
Prerequisites
- Bun 1.3.13+ (monorepo pin) or the Node runtime your service already uses
- Read Getting started first
- Basic TypeScript modules/
importknowledge
Glossary
- Port — TypeScript contract the application depends on (no vendor types).
- Adapter — Concrete implementation that talks to a driver, broker, or protocol.
- Composition root — Process startup code that wires env → adapters → use-cases.
Numbered steps
1. Install
bun add @jumentix/sdk-grpc-client2. First success (under 30 min)
import { GrpcApiClient } from '@jumentix/sdk-grpc-client';
const client = new GrpcApiClient('localhost:3002');
const response = await client.request({
operationId: 'createUser',
input: { username: 'john', password: 'StrongPass#123' }
});3. Core workflows
1. Point at host:port
Use the gRPC gateway address from env.
2. Send envelope
operationId + input matching AsyncAPI/proto.
3. Deploy only on Node
Do not bundle this into a browser app.
4. Full practical surface (exports)
GrpcApiClient
Use exports from application/adapters layers as described above — not from domain entities.
Common errors
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Proto not found | Packaging/path issue | Ensure dist proto is present in the installed package. |
Verify success: the first-success snippet runs (or typechecks against your service) and your use-case depends only on ports.
Junior checklist (“I can …”)
- I can run a Node hello against a local gRPC gateway
- I know this page is docs-only (no browser playground)
Next step
Continue with message-mediator.
